Eisentraut

Eisentraut Handmade Steel Road Bike, 56 cm, Beautiful!

If you Google Albert Eisentraut, you won't find a website where you can order a bike. What you will find are many articles about the history of this Oakland, California-based frame builder. You might find a copy of a 1987 Bicycling Magazine article that will give you the impression of a man who started building handmade steel frames in the late 1950's, and despite being a little frustrated about never getting rich making bicycle frames, he is an artist wholly devoted to his craft. He also ran a frame building school and trained many builders whose names are more recognized today, like Joe Breeze. But let's talk about this bike: if you are an average size person, say in the 5' 8" to 6' 1" range, the 56 cm "square" dimensions might fit you really well. It is set up to ride, not hang on the wall, and we think this bikes as good as anything out there. We are guessing (based on research, and the fact most of this bike is TIG welded rather than fully-lugged, it is likely early to mid 2000's. The paint is in very fine condition.
