Youth Programs
Youth Open Shop
WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THE Youth Open Shop BACK UP AND RUNNING!
Please sign up HERE if you would like to get notified once Youth Open Shop is back.
Youth Open Shop is a program for youth ages 8-17 years old. This is a productive learning environment where youth are surrounded only with their peers and our Youth Education Specialists.
Participating youth have the option to work on their own bikes (currently a one-time option to get the bike running), help repair bikes for the Collective giving programs, or earn a bike of their own through volunteered hours.
Youth Bike Mechanics Summer Camp
No Summer Camps in 2019. We'll see you all next summer!
Earn a bike or bring your own!
Our Youth Bike Mechanics Summer Camp is a hands-on course designed to foster problem solving skills through bicycle mechanics for youth ages 13-18. During the 5-day program, kids are taught basic bicycle mechanics and safety skills that will not only enable them to to work on their own bikes, but also to help their friends and families with keeping their bikes running!
Participants refurbish a bicycle from the St. George Bicycle Collective. They also have the option to work on their own bikes during specified parts of the workshop. Participants who do not own a bike will be able to keep the bike after the summer camp or they will have the option to donate the bike they work on to a teen who might need it more at the end of the course.
