Youth Bike Mechanics Summer Camp

Our Youth Bike Mechanics Summer Camp is a hands-on course designed to foster problem solving skills through bicycle mechanics for youth ages 13-18. During the 5-day program, kids are taught basic bicycle mechanics and safety skills that will not only enable them to to work on their own bikes, but also to help their friends and families with keeping their bikes running!

Participants will have the option to work on their own bikes or to refurbish a bicycle from the St. George Bicycle Collective. Participants will be able to keep the bike after the summer camp or they will have the option to donate the bike they work on to a teen who might need it more at the end of the course.

Class 1: Intro - Find a bike, know your bike, and fix a flat

Class 2: Handlebars, Pedals, Seatpost, Saddle and Chain

Class 3: Brakes and Shifting Systems

Class 4: Hubs and Wheel Truing

Class 5: Riding Safely - Overview and Ride

Participants who complete the class will receive a free helmet, a repair kit, a small repair kit, a lock, and a certificate of completion. Small refreshments are included in the price. Please bring a snack.

Class size is limited to 6 students.

Classes are taught 9 AM - 12:15 PM every day.

The cost is $60 per student. Discounts are available for teens that qualify for free or reduced school lunches on request.

PAY FEES and SUBMIT LIABILITY WAIVER at the St. George Bicycle Collective WITHIN 7 DAYS OF REGISTRATION in order to complete the registration.
