March Volunteer Highlight: Saint George
Each month, the Collective will feature a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution from one of the Bicycle Collective's four locations.
Josh is the most committed volunteer that Saint George Bicycle Collective has ever had. In 2021 he was recognized with a Heart and Hands award, awarded to him by the Utah Philanthropy Day association. So far, he has been bringing that same steadfast commitment to volunteerism in 2022 with over 120 hours volunteered so far this year. Here are some questions answered by Josh:
How did you get involved with the Collective?
I needed a tune on a neighbor's bike. I googled bike shops. Saint George Bicycle Collective had the best rating of any shop in town. So I decided to stop in. I am involved in missionary work and volunteering as well, and decided this was a good fit for me to donate time.
What do you enjoy most about the Collective?
I enjoy the super awesome atmosphere and the free coffee. Building custom bikes, and learning new skills. I also like working on the bicycles for charitable causes.
How has cycling has impacted your life?
Cycling has impacted my life, when I was recently struck by a motorist, crossing the intersection. Fortunately it was very minor, and my bicycle didn't need repair.
What is your favorite trail in Saint George?
My favorite trail in southern Utah is Paradise Rim. I just cant get enough of the "hangtime" that the trail provides. I think there are quite a bit of technical rock sections here in southern Utah.
Thank you, Josh, for the massive contribution to Saint George Bicycle Collective!
